AMY CORTESE is an award-winning journalist, author and speaker whose recent work centers on the intersection of crowdfinance and community. A longtime contributor to the New York Times, she wrote several groundbreaking features and op-eds about the emerging crowdfinance market. Her book, Locavesting, was one of the pioneering works on the local investing and community capital movement. Written in the wake of the financial crisis, it explores how a small shift in investment towards locally-owned enterprises can reap enormous economic and social benefits for individuals, their communities and the country. Amy is the founder & editor of Locavesting.com, a media and educational site covering the evolving community capital field, and cofounder of investibule.co, an aggregation site for community-based offerings. She’s also a founding member of the National Coalition for Community Capital (NC3). Amy has been named a “Top 30 Crowdfunding Thought Leader,” and was present at the historic April 2012 Rose Garden signing of the JOBS Act.
