In 2005 he raised over $15 million in capital as one of the organizing group that opended a community bank in Irvine where he also served as a director, chair of the audit committee and a member of the loan committee.  As a professor of international finance at Cal State Fullerton, in 2009 he created the Institute for Research and Education in Outsourcing (IREO) and serves as its director.  IREO and the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP) entered into an academic alliance and a licensing agreement to stage the Master COP class at CSUF University. In 2015 GFS was hired by the Cal State Fullerton Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for Joe to provide consulting services to SBDC client companies who wish to use crowdfunding to raise capital.  He presently works with his co-author, Ruth Hedges, creating the first university-level course in crowdfunding.
